Farming since
1974
The Farm was started in 1974 on a piece of almost
barren land save for a few Palmyra trees, in a location considered back of beyond. Primarily started as a Dairy farm with cows & water buffaloes, this space witnessed
milking cycles that began at midnight & milk vans that went to the city twice a day.​
Planting efforts over the last 5 decades
has made us a bio-diverse hotspot,
with an increasing number of birds & insects calling The Farm their home.
We encourage the growth of indigenous trees
& plants, as well as the residence of wildlife
in an effort to hold on to the unique
eco-system of this land.

The manure from the sheds allows us to be
a 100% organic farm, growing seasonal vegetables, fruits & greens. We grow & produce what we can, keeping in mind the time of year, the weather patterns, the availability of water and the sustainability of our endeavours.
The fields on the farm were dedicated to growing fodder for the animals. Spaces were left wild for the animals to also free graze.
Trees were planted so the land would see flowers through the year.
Fruits & vegetables were grown thanks to all the available compost material.

Over 50 years later, The Farm is now an oasis of green on the IT corridor
of Chennai city. The dairy still forms the fulcrum of our operation
and our bovines continue to lead a life of leisure as they graze on wild, seasonal grasses and wallow in the lakes. ​
